We had so much of Scott's family in town this weekend and it was so fun to see everyone again! His sister Liz and her husband Aries and their 6 kids came to stay with us on Saturday and Ryan and Valerie came with their 3 little ones for Friday (and we convinced them to stay over on Saturday as well). It was chaotic and crazy, but so much fun. I love to see all the cousins running around inventing fun games to play together and getting each other nice and tired for bedtime. :)
Scott's sister Liesl has been dating a really nice guy named Daniel for a while now. Daniel is an opera singer and was in a children's opera version of Cinderella. Saturday we all met up there and got to watch him perform. Boy, he has an amazing voice! The setup was really cool - the kids all got to sit right next to the stage. I held Pumpkin on my lap, but Mister sat down by the stage with all his other cousins and was totally engrossed by his first opera. I was a little worried at first, thinking about how he doesn't like loud noises and frequently tells people to be quiet when they're singing or talking too loud. But he did great and every time we checked on him he was fixated on the performance. Even Pumpkin was fascinated by it and watched the entire thing, enraptured. I'm excited my boys got to experience a little bit of culture, and more importantly, that they didn't embarrass us while doing it. :)
The weekend was over too quickly and the house feels really empty now. Fortunately we get to go back to visit Scott's family next weekend for our church's General Conference. I love my in-laws and I'm so grateful to be part of their family.
Here are a few pictures:

That is the coolest thing ever! An opera for kids? Wow!! I have to tell my friend about this - she is a nonworking opera singer and she would probably love to get into something like that.
Sounds like a lot of fun family time!
What a neat experience that would have been. Who would have thought - an opera for children. What a great way to introduce it to them. Looks like such a fun weekend!
Awww!! Looks like a blast. You look great Marissa! :)
How nice an Opera! What a cute family picture of your darling family! We Love You All!!!
