We have been putting off Pumpkin's first haircut for a long time now. We just couldn't bring ourselves to cut those gorgeous curls. We just weren't ready for him to look like a big boy yet. We still think of him as our baby, and somehow cutting off his locks makes us face the fact that he's growing up (too fast!). But after having MANY people call him a girl (even though he's always wearing blue, airplanes, footballs, etc - HELLO people!) and having an increasingly hard time taming is developing mullet, we decided to bite the bullet and cut his hair. I even got a little misty eyed when Scott was cutting it. I never used to be such a sap but somehow motherhood has made me much more prone to tears. Oh well, it's a good exchange for what I get in return. :) After:

After the haircut we went to a small, narrow beach down on the river. It was supposed to be 89 degrees on Saturday but it was overcast and a chilly 66 degrees when we got to the beach. Good thing Grandma was thinking ahead and suggested we bring windbreakers for the boys. We ended up needing them! :) We had a nice time anyway and Scott braved the chilly water and went for a swim. Mister didn't get all the way in but had fun splashing around then rolling in the sand and getting all dirty. It's funny - he used to HATE getting dirty. He would freak out if he got jam on his hands when eating a PB & J, he would freak out over spills, etc. Now he's rolling in sand. Huh. Pumpkin and his cat-like aversion to water (even baths take some getting used to for him) contented himself with a bag of goldfish on the towel for most of the time, but eventually his life's goal to be a suction cup on Scott overcame that and he ventured out to be picked up.

Afterward we went to the cutest little restaurant on the docks nearby and enjoyed a delicious meal with my mom. Mister was too interested in the big ship steering wheel in the corner and the people loading and unloading their boats to concentrate on the food. He appointed himself the official waver to all boats, coming or going.

Of course by the time we got home around 2:30 (past naptime with a very tired Pumpkin) the clouds had burned off and the sun was shining. Go figure.

Oh my gosh, you're right he does totally look like a different boy now. Awwwwwe I know how you feel though. But his haircut really does look good on him! How did Scott get him to hold still for it?
Love the beach shots. I love summer!
Pumpkin looks so cute and grown up in his big boy haircut. It's amazing how fast the first haircut makes them grow up.
What a little man! Major props to Scott for doing such a good job. There's no way we could ever cut Jamie's hair, we have to go to the local kiddie barber shop.
So cute, Pumpkin looks like a little gentleman with his new haircut.
Send me those pics your found: helldini@gmail.com
Pumkin looks so cute as always. It amazes me how different and yet alike the boys are. Love you.
He looks SOOO handsome with his new haircut, and I CAN'T believe that Scott is the one who did it! Very impressive!
I hate when Olivia is wearing ALL PINK and people will ask if she is a boy or a girl. What kind of mother would dress her boy in all pink?
Holy Crap! I can't believe how much Pumpkin looks like Mister after that haircut!!! Too cute boys!
