Yesterday was gray and cool so I decided to take the opportunity to make jam on a day when the house wasn't already sweltering. I went to a nearby farmer's market and bought 2 flats of raspberries and 1 flat of blackberries. They were so delicious, I had a hard time keeping Pumpkin from gorging himself. He had blackberry stained hands all afternoon. :) I ended up getting 11 quarts and 2 pints (so basically 12 quarts total) of homemade jam. I only made raspberry and blackberry this year (last year I made lots of strawberry too) because neither Mister nor Scott are big fans of strawberry jam. Scott will eat it ok if there's nothing else, but Mister calls it "yucky jam" and refuses to eat it. Which is funny because he ate it just fine all winter until I pulled out the raspberry jam one day, then he decided that he didn't like strawberry jam at all anymore and would only eat the raspberry and marionberry (a great NW berry) jams. Oh well, no big deal this year since now I know everyone's preferences. Tonight we're going over to my parents' house for dinner and they have a ton of blueberry bushes in their field out there. I'm going to bring home as many as they're willing to spare and make some blueberry jam too. I hear it's pretty good. :)
Here's the finished product (after a few hours, two sore feet and a slightly sore back). But the minor discomfort is so worth it for fresh homemade jam all year long. :)

Mine does that sometimes too with the paragraphs... you just need to insert
where you want the paragraph to end and it works like a charm! Woo hoo, that High School Computer Science class DID pay off after all!
Blogger drives me crazy. It is not as easy posting pictures now when I do it on the Mac.
Anyway - the jam looks yummy! We are almost done with the peach, so we'll take a jar of whichever you don't want! =)
Haha, okay, so by showing you what to put in your post to give spaces it just inserted spaces in my comment. What you need to do is:

Take out the (followed by) and try it!
Yah yah Amanda... I'm jealous, where's our jam!!! :(
Yummy, I can't wait to taste these!
Lauren, I only made freezer jam this time, so I can't ship it to you. I'm going to be doing a few canned versions later on though. I'll save you some for when you get here. :) And thanks for the paragraph tip!
you're amazing! do you have an easy recipe? I've never made jam before and would like to try.
Good job Marissa, that is impressive! Jenilyn is in Eugene staying with her parents while Bryan is in Portland doing work stuff. They both will be traveling back and forth.
Ooooohhhh! Looks good! I'm hoping to do some canning this summer too. Can't wait to try it.
All I have to say is Yum!
My mouth is watering. That jam looks so delicious.
Wow good job! I have to say that I have only ever once made homemade jam , and it was with Dalynn. And since then I have completely forgotten how but always have wanted to because it tastes SO much better than store-bought. Your jamlooks great!
Marissa, Your Jams are Beautiful! Wish we were there to share them with you! Hopefully when we come out next year we can try some. We Love You Guys!!!
