A Big Milestone

I think you'll agree that I've been very public about my weight-loss efforts since Pumpkin was born. I joined a weight-loss program and started working out. Lately I've gotten better at running and am now up to running 3.25 miles when I go, and I try to go 4x per week. I'm really proud of myself for sticking with this workout regime and having it actually be something I enjoy for the very first time in my entire life.

As I was getting dressed yesterday morning I slipped on my size 10 "skinny jeans" (the smallest I ever got between pregnancies, and even then they were still a bit snug), only to notice that they were actually pretty roomy. Enough for me to want to put on a belt to keep from having to hike them up all the time. Alas, with all this weight loss, my belts are also too big, even on the last hole. Not that I'm complaining, but I didn't have a way to solve my delightful new dilemma. So when I was at the store later that morning, I walked by a jeans display and thought that I'd like a new pair of "skinny jeans". So I bought a size 8. Gulp.

Well, when I got home and tried them on (brave of me to buy them without doing that first, but with kids it's hard....) they actually fit! I was thrilled! Ah, to wear clothes with the size in the single digits again felt wonderful! Yes, they were a little snug, but I was able to wear them for the rest of the day and not feel like the button was digging in or that I would split the seams when I sat down. That got me really excited, so I had Scott go out into the garage and pull out all my old clothes that I haven't been able to wear since we were dating (aka right after college). All my size 10s fit and some are roomy. But most of the size 8s were too tight, and I now have a new pair of "skinny jeans" that is my new goal. They're also a size 8, but they're cut much smaller, and they don't fit at all. So my new goal is to get back into those jeans. But for now, I'm just thrilled that I fit into anything with an 8 on the tag! I feel like I just inherited a whole new wardrobe! Now all I need is a good belt....

Weight loss total since the day I went into the hospital to give birth: 50 lbs! Yes, some of it was Pumpkin and the fluids, etc. But hey, 50 lbs is 50 lbs. And 24 inches off my body! Wahoo for hard work paying off! I'd still like to lose another 10.... Wish me luck!

You can be so proud of your accomplishment. I know I am. You look amazing! And the best thing is the healthy lifestyle you have started that your boys can emulate. And of course the fact that you have much more stamina! I love you.

Wow! 50 pounds! Congratulations Marissa. That is my goal (50 pounds). So you are truly an inspiration to me. I would love to fit into a size 8! Way to go! I also have a pair of "skinny jeans" that I have hanging in my closet right where I can see them. They are a size 10/12 but are cut smaller (Ralph Lauren) and I can't wait until I can wear them again someday.

You should totally post before/after pictures! I would love to see that!

Dangitt! I just realizedI put your name on here. Do you just not want us to say your kids names or yours too? Sorry!

It's cool to use my name. Just not my last name or the boys' names. Thanks for the compliment. I'm really surprising myself by enjoying running. I'm even reading up on running on websites and stuff. It's so not me, but I guess it's the new me. :)
