Little (or not-so-little) Pumpkin is growing up so fast these days. We just took down a box of Mister's old clothes in the 12 month size the other night, because some of the 6-12 month size pants are becoming high-waters on him now. I was so excited that their birthdays were going to be so close so I wouldn't have to spend a bunch of money on new clothes for Pumpkin, being that they'd be the same age in the same seasons. But he's grown so much bigger, so much faster than Mister did at his age, that in August we're pulling out Mister's dead-of-winter clothes because Pumpkin has outgrown all the other ones. All I have to say is thank goodness for children's consignment stores! We live near a really nice one and I've been able to get Pumpkin some really nice Ralph Lauren, Gymboree, Children's Place, and Baby Gap clothes that look brand new for super cheap! Wish I lived near it when Mister was a baby. Could've saved a fortune on clothes.... Oh well, now we know. Here's a cute picture of Pumpkin in his new (well, new to him since Mister had it first) toy. He LOVES it! :)

Hood to Coast Race
Every summer there's a big relay race that goes from Mt Hood to the coast. It's ridiculously long, down mountains, through Portland, up over another range of mountains, and finally into Seaside. Scott was feeling ambitious (or he got roped into it by some friends) and decided to participate in this year's race. He was on a team of 12 people and he was responsible for running 3 legs, the shortest and easiest of which was 5.89 miles long. Yeah, I don't know why people do this - on purpose no less - but he was a champ and said he was glad he did it. He had to be away from home for a couple of days to participate in it, and the boys and I really missed him, but I think he's glad he went just to say that he did it. Needless to say he was walking very gingerly when he got home and the next day. :) At the end of the race they gave the participants a gold medal with the Hood to Coast logo on it, which he promptly gave to Mister when he got home. Mister has been watching the Olympics with us these past few weeks, so he proudly wore it around the house for a while before generously sharing it with our black lab Belle.

Wow - congrats Scott for doing the Hood to Coast. Which legs did he do? Will has run H2C 3 times, and is doing it again next year. He usually ends up doing all the hilly legs. I had to volunteer the last year he ran it. LOL I got to wear this hideous traffic vest and direct running traffic. Fun fun fun.
Good for Scott. I'm glad that there are people out there that do those kind of things. It makes up for people like me who have absolutely no interest in things like that!
Congratulations Scott! No small feat to accomplish. And it is so nice to share the medal with Mister. Mister kept singing the Olympic tune throught the games so he must have thought it was great that he got a medal too! Great job all around.
