Feeling Nostalgic

We have lived here for nearly 2 1/2 years now. Scott has a great job, we have 2 beautiful boys, and a nice house in a great family-friendly neighborhood. I am thrilled with the place - it's bigger than our old house, it's got a pool, clubhouse with workout room, and park right in our community, and you could probably see the neighborhood from outer space around the holidays from all the decorations and lights up around here.
BUT - It's not our old house. Yes our old house was smaller and it lacked the neighborhood amentities we enjoy here. But it was exactly the way we wanted it. It had great wood floors, we had a HUGE walk-in closet (I could do a cartwheel in there), a bigger yard, a fireplace, ceiling fans and an awesome loft area. Scott gets upset with me sometimes because he feels like I'm not giving our current house the same love as our old one. Once we have this house the way we want it, I'm sure I will love it even more than the old one. But for now, I have very fond memories of our first home. Here's our laundry list of things we want to do to our new place to get it "juuuuussst right" (like Goldilocks). :)

1. Put in wood/laminate floors

2. Put built-in cabinets/drawers in the family room and master bedroom (our current "walk-in" closet is the size of a postage stamp, so we need the extra storage)

3. Put a murphy bed in the guest bedroom so it can be a playroom for the boys most of the time and a bedroom only when we have guests (so I don't have toy tornadoes all over the house)

4. Install a second showerhead in our master shower. We had that in Eugene and it was the best!

5. Install a fireplace somewhere..... Don't know where it would work, but we want one.

I'm sure there's more, but that's all I can think of off the top of my head. Of course none of that will be done until Scott's done with grad school in 2 1/2 years.....

We went back to the town we used to live in for our nephew's baptism a few weeks ago and drove by our old place. I was so excited to see it again, but when we pulled around the corner we saw that the new owners had painted it a horrible shade of blue! How they got it past the homeowner's association, I'll never know. The picture below actually makes it look nice, which it didn't. But anyway, it's for sale again! It made me so sad to see that for some reason. Like the new owners didn't love it as much as we did (even though we only lived there for 2 1/2 years ourselves) or something. Ah well, I hope they can get their money out of it - they financed 100% when they bought it from us and the market isn't exactly booming right now. Anway, this is our beloved first home. The home we lived in together as newlyweds, the home we brought Mister home to from the hospital, the home where he said his first words and took his first steps.... Like I said, I love our new situation, I just REALLY loved that house in our old town.

hi Marissa! And Scott too of course! How are you both? I had no idea you had two kids now! WOW. How old is your first? Last time I saw either of you, you were pregnant, but still didn't know what you were having. Tell me their names and ages! Daniel is 5 already, and Nathan is 9 months old. And we're expecting out first little girl this October. I must be crazy.
I have an email: jenilyn.floyd@yahoo.com
I am very happy with my little family. Bryan is gone a lot with the military, which isn't easy. But I absolutly LOVE being a mommy, and wouldn't want to change that for anything! Hope to hear from you both soon--Jenilyn
