Tonight the boys and I had a cookie party. Mister loves to cook so we busted out all his new cooking equipment that he got for Christmas and put it to use. I wanted to make sugar cookies and use the cookie cutters to make them into neat shapes for him, but I couldn't find a recipe I trusted online for them. Some would get good reviews but a few people said they tasted awful, like biscuits instead of cookies, too dry, etc. So I decided on a recipe that was universally liked even though it wasn't a roll-out dough. We still had fun making and frosting them. Mister went a little crazy with the food coloring for the frosting so it turned out kind of a sea-green, goopy color. I mistakenly took out all the food coloring bottles to ask him which color we should make the frosting, telling him to pick one. Well, he wanted ALL the colors..... So I indulged his whim and let him go to town with it. But still, not that appetizing. It tasted great though! :) I made 3 dozen cookies but only about 2 dozen made it to the serving plate (thanks Mom, I'm putting it to good use). This picture was taken before we were done cooking. We didn't eat THAT many.... Pumpkin got to watch from his high chair. We raised it to the highest level and pulled him up close (closer than in this picture). He was fascinated by the whirring of the stand mixer and watching us roll the cookie dough into balls in our hands. He was such a good little boy, just sitting there, sucking his thumb and watching Mister and me cook. It was a nice evening. And I love the above picture of Mister double-fisting the butter. :)

I don't care what the color of the frosting is, they look good to me! Why, even though I just ate a huge breakfast, do I now want cookies?? Thanks Marissa!

Those look Delish! and that pic of Pumpkin looks adorable! What beautiful eyes...
Um, those cookies look DELISH!!! I'd eat any color frosting AND cookies... as Guy Fieri would say "I'd eat that off a flip flop!".
Your baking night looks like so much fun, I'm so envious of your big kitchen and tons of counter space. I'm soooo excited for my new, bigger (maybe 15 sq ft) kitchen because now we have enough counter to fit a microwave! Haha, gotta love DC! :)
