Puerto Rico: Part 1

We made it home last night after 5 days in Puerto Rico for my brother's wedding. It was a balmy 80+ degrees down there and I must say, it was a welcome change from the snow and freezing rain we've experienced up in the Northwest recently. My in-laws graciously watched our boys for us so we could enjoy the trip by ourselves. We missed them soooo much but we really enjoyed our adult time. And judging from the rection I got when I tried to talk to Mister on the phone one day (Nana had to bribe him to even get on the phone, then he hung up on me shortly after I told him that his daddy wasn't around to talk to him), he didn't miss me much at all. :)

One of the best parts of this long weekend was getting the chance to see family that I don't get to see very often. I hadn't seen my dad in 3 years before this trip, which is WAY too long. We had such a wonderful time catching up and spending time together. Here's a picture of my step-mom Liz (who's just perfect for my dad), Kiel, myself and my dad who Pumpkin is named after. Sadly, he couldn't meet his namesake on this trip, but we're trying to work something out to remedy that.

Kiel and me: This picture was taken at a restaurant called the Strip House in our hotel. I thought it was because it's a steak house, you know, like Strip steak? Ummm, no. It's because it has pictures of naked women all over the walls. The pin-up girls from the 1930s-1950s..... Some were more modest than others, but it was still kind of disconcerting to look over my dad's (or mom's) shoulder and see parts of the female anatomy that are usually kept under wraps.... Makes for an interesting story though. We managed to take this picture on New Year's Eve in about the only spot that would still be G-rated for blog publishing. :)

The next day we went on a tour of Old San Juan and the Bacardi Rum Factory. This picture was taken at the top of the old San Cristobal fort in town. It had a great view from the top.

My sister Kristen and me at the top of the fort. It was so awesome to spend time with her and her fiance Brian during this trip.

At the Bacardi factory, just before the tour. Their symbol is a fruit bat. Long story.

Your camera captures the blue of the water perfectly!

And I know the feeling of the weirdness of the Strip House. The first time Kiel and I were there, we didn't even notice until halfway through our bottle of wine! What a shock. Even more shocking? My mom went to a luncheon for Komen for the Cure at the Strip House in Texas!!!!
