25 Random Things About Me

Ok, so everyone else I know has done this already, so I figured I might as well jump on the bandwagon too. Hope you're not too bored by these random facts about me:

1. My mom has called me by my middle name (Brianne or Bri for short) my whole life. I used to hate it and tell her it wasn't my name, that she should call me Marissa. But she never let up and now I love it.
2. My grandparents (paternal) call me Missy and they're the only people I allow that from....
3. I lived in Norway and Spain for one year each in high school and college respectively and am fluent in Norwegian and Spanish.
4. I wear glasses most of the time since I now get headaches when I don't. I hate contacts and can't wait to get Lasik someday.
5. I learned to love ketchup on my pizza when I lived in Norway.
6. I am a spelling nazi - I can't stand when people purposely mis-spell words because it's "cool" or something. I generally refuse to patronize stores that do that, like "Qwik Mart" or "Kountry Korner", etc just because it bothers me so much.
7. I am an avid reader. I love books of all genres as long as it's fascinating.
8. I love to learn new things, especially languages. I loved school (well, not math or science, but pretty much all the other subjects) and I can't wait to start my new photography classes later this month.
9. I find knitting therapeutic. I can only do scarves and slippers, but I love to do it.
10. I have always struggled with my weight. I was always the "big" girl of my friends and was always self-conscious about it. Although now that I'm at my college weight now and have had two kids, I count that as an accomplishment.
11. I don't have a sweet tooth - I generally don't like cakes or cookies or candy. Except homemade carmels. I can eat a whole batch of those.
12. I don't wear jewelry much, other than my wedding ring.
13. I don't like my husband to spend money on flowers for me. Sure they smell nice, I just don't see the point if they're going to die in a few days.
14. I LOVE fast food!
15. I was a cheerleader in high school.
16. I am big on having my own "Marissa time". I need my own space to be by myself and do something by myself and for myself.
17. I LOVE sports - especially football. I can't get enough. We don't have cable anymore and I really miss watching SportsCenter.
18. I was never allowed to leave the house with a dirty room or un-made bed when I was growing up. That was my big rebellion once I moved out. My room is rarely tidy these days. (Sorry Mom, that one just didn't stick).
19. I'm terrible about keeping in touch with people who don't live near me. It's not that I don't love and miss them, I just am terrible at maintaining ongoing communication when I'm not part of someone's daily life or they a part of mine. Thank goodness for blogs and gmail chat! :)
20. I'm a convert to my religion.
21. My favorite color is orange.
22. My favorite season is fall, specifically October-December. I usually kick off the fall season on October 1st by baking a loaf of pumpkin bread or something else fall-inspired, even if it's still 75 degrees out.
23. My favorite sport to participate in is skiing, even though I haven't been in forever.
24. I don't listen to music on the radio - I listen to sports talk radio. So I never know what songs are cool or anything. Although I do love country music and listen to that on occasion.
25. I love reality TV like "Dancing with the Stars", "American Idol", and "The Bachelor".

So that's me in a nutshell. Kind of nerdy and wacky, but hey, that's what makes life interesting. Hope you enjoyed learning more about me. I'm not going to tag anyone since pretty much everyone I know has already done this, even my sister who never does things like this so I know I'm really behind! Haha! Love you Kristen. :)

It was fun to learn more about you. I'm guessing you didn't get flowers then for Valentine's. I'm the same way with stuff like that. What are some of your favorite books?

I'm 100% with you on the flowers comment...although I do LOVE flowers brought home, in-hand. Why waste tons of money buying them online and paying some stranger to deliver them when you can stop by the store and grab a bouquet for less than $10 and have a handsome, heartfelt delivery from the one you love.

I say this, as my husband decided to send his new wife 3 dozen red roses to her office for Valentine's day... delivered Friday... when she is OFF on Friday and Saturday! Let's hope they're still alive by tomorrow! :(

Okay so I take it you don't probably hate acronymns them. LOL Well gr8t, I dunno wut to tell u.

Hahah just kidding.

I am with you on the weight thing. ANd I am totally addicted to The Bachelor this season, maybe it's because they have filmed a lot in Seattle. I am sad though because he kicked off Jillian last week and I was rooting for her. She seemed the best for him, but now I am thinking he has really been into Melissa this entire time. LOL Ahhhh I can't wait for the next episode! If we lived closer we could totally have Bachelor watching nights. :)
