I took the boys in for their 1 and 4 year check-ups today. Mister is petrified of the doctor and requires a significant amount of coddling, cajoling, bribing, comforting etc, so I asked my friend Jami to come with me. It was so nice of her to come help me with Pumpkin (I just knew that I'd be overwhelmed if I went alone) and afterward we went out to lunch. Fortunately by then Mister had stopped his sobbing and was somewhat distracted by the chips and salsa on the table and his refried beans. But that didn't stop him from telling people that he got an owwie on his arm from the doctor's shot. It was traumatic for him, but he's ok now that he's got some food in his belly and is back home far far away from the doctor's office. Pumpkin was a piece of cake. He cried a little when he got his shot, but other than that he was his laid-back easy self all morning. :) Here are their stats:
Mister:
Weight: 36 lbs (50th %)
Height: 41.5 inches (75th%)
Pumpkin:
Weight: 23 lbs (50th %)
Height: 30.5 inches (75th %)
Head circumference: 49 cm (98th %)
I don't know what Mister's head circumference is - fortunately they didn't subject him to more torture than necessary. But he has always been big-headed too, so I imagine he's roughly the same as Pumpkin percentile-wise. It was a traumatic and stressful morning (for Mister and me anyway) so now I'm off to take some Advil and hopefully squeeze in a little nap while Pumpkin naps and Mister is down for his "quiet time."

I feel the pain for Mister's shot. I don't like them either. Actually, I don't anyone who does. Give Mister a big kiss for me.
