Walk in the Woods

We went to a trail area (location #1 for those who remember us trying to find a place for family portraits) near our house to get out and enjoy the fresh air yesterday. I am feeling great now aside from occasional dizziness and when my incisions get bumped (or kicked) so I've been wanting to get out for a while now. It was a very easy walk on a nice cushy trail and was the perfect way to get outdoors while still taking it easy.
Mister was a trooper and loved exploring all the wildlife - he got especially excited about seeing all the banana slugs that were out. He also had a big maple leaf that he carried around proudly during most of our excursion. All good things must come to an end though, and our walk did when Mister started getting tired and whiny. Pumpkin got to sit in the backpack carrier, but Mister had to walk and I think it was actually pretty far for a 4 year old. He did better than we expected him to.
Showing off his maple leaf:

Pumpkin was happy to just chill out in the backpack carrier. You can't tell from the look on his face in these pictures, but he really enjoyed our outing. For some reason he'll be really happy and smiley, giving high 5s and wanting to hold my hand, but the minute I put the camera up to my face he stonewalls me! I swear, he's not as serious as he always looks in these blog pictures! Haha.

Scott had to carry both boys on the way back to the car. Mister was just too tired to do it himself. Good thing Scott is so strong:

I'm glad you're feeling mostly better Marissa! That looked like a fun little hike. What kind of carrier is Pumpkin in? We're on the lookout for comfortable baby-carrying contraptions for our trip to India, and I like how that one has a built in bag too...I'd love to get the name/how you like it!

Mieka, when are you going to India?! We love that carrier! The brand is Kelty and the model is "Journey" I think. It's comfy, padded and adjustable, and very sturdy. It can stand upright on its own too (even with the baby inside) with its metal frame. But it's still lightweight, and has the built-in backpack. Check it out, you'll really like it. :)

THat looked so beautiful. Wow - what a guy for carrying both boys at once too. Glad you got to get out and smell the fresh air.

Thanks Marissa- I'll have to check it out (the Kelty pack). Yeah, we're going to India in November. We'll see how it goes with Tony...
