Pumpkin Patch Trip

We went down to visit Scott's family this weekend for our church's twice-yearly General Conference. We love going down there and hearing all those spiritual messages that help bolster us and motivate us to be better followers of Christ. But along with all that spirituality, we always make time for family fun too. Scott got up EARLY and went surfing at the coast with his dad and brother. And later in the afternoon we stuck to our family tradition of going to the pumpkin patch. I was worried because the forecast was for afternoon rain and thunderstorms. Fortunately we got there before all that started, but you can see some dramatic skies in the backgrounds of some of the pumpkin patch pictures.

No trip to the pumpkin patch is complete without a tractor ride. Mister and Pumpkin really loved it and Pumpkin kept saying "tractor" over and over (an over) the whole time. And of course Mister had to have the front row seat to watch the tractor pull our hayride wagon. :)

Proof that I was there too:

At first Pumpkin wasn't sure what to make of the pumpkins. Last year he was so little we just carried him around in the baby bjorn the whole time. This was his first introduction to the big orange "balls" (as he called them).

One thing I love about this particular pumpkin patch is that they have an area that's specifically for children. The pumpkins have already been picked and are scattered around a big field. No worrying about muddy dirt, tripping over vines, etc. And they're mostly smaller pumpkins that children can pick up themselves. Once we made our way to that part of the pumpkin patch Pumkin got really excited about the "balls".

You can see the dark clouds coming in this picture. Mister was so cooperative so I could snap a few good pictures of him this year. I bribed him, of course.

Weeeee!

Once we got back to the farm area we went into their produce store and I delivered on the bribe. I let Mister pick out whatever treat he wanted. They had candy apples, ice cream, and candies galore. But what did he pick? A small, bright blue lollipop. He was so proud of his blue tongue (I showed him this picture on the camera's lcd screen) he kept sticking it out to show everyone all the way home.
The big storms started soon after we left the pumpkin patch, but after they died down Scott took the boys for a tractor ride. My in-laws live on 2 acres so there's plenty to see, do and investigate from the tractor. It's a must-do every time we visit.

And then they all hopped into the hot tub together.
Here are a couple great pictures I got when there was a break in the storm and then right after. I love the lighting in the first one, with the sun shining on a really dark sky. So pretty.

There was actually a double rainbow but I couldn't capture them both. I think this is such a great thing to see after a hard rain.

We had an amazing weekend with Scott's family that went by all too fast. We were sad to have to leave on Sunday night. Thanks for having us!

So cute! The farm we went to this weekend had a pumpkin patch too but I realized we don't have a stoop at our apartment so we'd just have a poor, rotting pumpkin sitting in our kitchen until Halloween!!!

Oh Marissa......what wonderful family memories you and Scott are making for those precious boys. I Love Fall! It & Christmas are my absolute favorite. I have done all my Fall Decorating inside and out and it is Beautiful! As I said on Facebook that has always been my Children and My Tradition every Fall and then with the Grandkids. Now that we live farther away from them they all still carry it on. Every Fall they do the Fall Trip to Weston to the Apple Orchard and the Pumpkin Patch!!!
