A Tale of Two Airport Visits

Since Scott gets to work from home a lot right now we are enjoying a little more flexibility with his schedule. Last week we decided to take the boys on one of their favorite outings - to the airport to watch the planes take off and land. It wasn't supposed to rain that day, but the weatherman being the reliable source of information that he always is, it did. And hard. But the trouble was that we'd already told the kids about the trip and they were so excited, so we couldn't back out. So we took the huge golf umbrellas, dressed for wet weather and headed out anyway.

Like the true native Northwest boys, they didn't mind the rain at all.
Which would've been fine if Pumpkin hadn't been fighting a cold for a while now. After a bit he started refusing to cooperate about staying under the umbrella and started insisting on venturing off on his own and running away any time we got near him. Like he actually wanted to get soaked.
Friendly boy waving at the planes as they zoomed by:

We called a day pretty quickly after that. We didn't want Pumpkin to get any sicker, so we cut our outing short and headed over to Ikea for a nice yummy lunch of Swedish meatballs. Mmmmm.....
Today we woke up and saw the sun shining and decided to make up for our really fast trip last week and headed back to the airport today. It was beyond gorgeous out. Sun shining, Mt Hood, Mt St. Helens and Mt Adams all visible on the horizons. And TONS of airplanes landing and taking off today. We had great front-row seats for the action, too. The boys were in heaven!

Mister proved to be quite elusive in the picture department today. Not even bribes of pizza for lunch could convince him to smile for me and what he probably feels are my stalker-ish picture-taking tendencies. Oh well, I guess he was just having too much fun.

What troopers. I am so glad you had a make-up day for the airport. I know how much the boys love looking at airplanes! Looks like the sun is our only in the NW becasue it sure it not out in CA.
