Last week we took the boys to their well-child check at the doctor's office. While Pumpkin is usually fine, Mister starts whimpering as soon as we turn into the doctor's parking lot. I asked Scott to come with us because both boys had to get shots and I've tried to do that alone before and it wasn't a pretty picture. Aside from the shots at the end, this was Mister's best doctor visit in a looooooong time. He's getting ready to start kindergarten next year so he got to do a few different tests that he doesn't normally do to check out his readiness. He liked doing the eyesight test and picking out the various shapes on the smallest lines he could see across the room. He has perfect eyesight. He also liked the hearing test and aced it, hearing every single small sound they made. So now I KNOW he has no excuse for not responding to my directions or questions. It's not that he can't hear me, it's that he's choosing to ignore me! :) But the fact that he smiled (and was nice to the nurse and doctor) at all while at this appointment is a huge stride in the right direction. He was even a supportive big brother for a reluctant Pumpkin and tried to reassure him that it was ok that the doctor wanted to look into his ears and eyes.
Both boys are growing well. Mister is right down the middle, where he's been for his entire life. 42 1/2 inches tall (45th percentile) and 39 lbs (40th percentile). Pumpkin is continuing his tall and skinny trend, at 35 1/2 inches tall (80th percentile) and 25 lbs 8 oz (20th percentile).
The shots were miserable. Pumpkin got 2 and cried pretty hard, but once Scott put him on my lap afterward, I gave him a couple of crackers and he forgot all about it. Mister was a nightmare. Poor guy, he had to be restrained by both Scott and the nurse and he had to get 3 shots. Normally I wouldn't do that many, but he has to have them before school and still has another to go this summer. But afterward he had a great time telling anyone who would listen all about his shots. He kept pulling down his pants to show me the injection sites though, so we had a long talk about how he couldn't do that at school and he'd just have to use all his words to describe them. Funny kid.
More on my girls weekend later......

Wow Pumpkin really is tall and skinny. Preston is 34 inches tall and 31 pounds, but he is also 95% for everything. He's a big kid for only 19 months old.
Shots are so hard...I've gotten better at them. but it's hard when they cry.
What are you trying to say? That it's inappropriate to pull down my pants in public?!
So glad the boys are growing well. Nobody likes shots and kids don't understand what they did to deserve such treatment...but so grateful the boys are healthy. I miss not seeing them this week.
Awww give the boys big hugs from Grandpa & Grandma & tell them we are so proud of them for being so big. Shots are no fun! I still hate it if I have to get one. We can not wait to see you all & spend some quality time with you! Love you Bunches!!!
