Dirt Eater

The boys were playing out in the yard while I was tidying up the kitchen from their afternoon snack (and yes, I could see them from the kitchen window, so they weren't totally unsupervised). Well, after a few minutes Pumpkin ran in and stood in front of me with one of the dirtiest faces I've ever seen on him, smiling hugely and waiting for me to notice.

Me: "Pumpkin, what have you been eating?"
Pumpkin: (With a huge grin and giggle) "DIRT!!!"

He was seriously giddy to tell me that he had eaten dirt and was obviously proud of his dirty face and mouth. And before I could wipe it off he raced back out again. Funny boy. One thing about nice weather and summer approaching though, is it's back to daily baths after they get so filthy outside all day. But at least they're happy, having fun and much less likely to fight if they're playing outdoors. :) I can handle a little dirt in return for that payoff.

Eating dirt runs in the family! Love my grandchildren!

I second that about the nice weather! I love that they just want to play play play outside, but it takes hours to get them clean and ready for bed now!

And at least he is only eating dirt. Our littlest is now into picking up any bug that is crawling and tries to put it in him mouth! It's so disgusting, I have to watch him like a hawk now!

Oh Marissa, I remember when I was a little girl all the neighborhood kids and I would make mud pies and lots of them and sometimes we had to sample them. Yuck! A little dirt won't hurt the boys. Boys will be boys! Fun times and good memories!!!
