Montana Vacation

We just got home from our trip to Montana this weekend. Boy oh boy did we have a wonderful time! What could be more wonderful than staying at a cabin right on a beautiful lake, the beach just steps away, with family that you love? Really, I count myself very lucky to have such great in-laws. I love Scott's family and I love spending time with them. The boys had a blast playing in the water. Mister was brave and would wade in pretty far and pretty regularly. Pumpkin contented himself with just getting in up to his knees and throwing rock after rock into the water. Scott's sister's family brought their ski boat and both of my boys would've spent all day riding around on it if they could. They LOVED it! Pumpkin just liked to ride it, Mister liked riding it but also got brave and went tubing a few times too. He loves tubing now and has been asking Scott when we can get a boat too. Which of course, Scott loves, so he's already promised him we'll get one in a few years. Hmmmm...... We'll see. :)

The weather was warm and wonderful, perfect for being outdoors in our swimsuits all day - not too hot, not too cold. And happily, we made it through the entire week without anyone getting a sunburn! Woohoo! We were bordering on being sunscreen nazis, but by the 3rd day the boys just accepted the fact that they had to wear it and were actually quite cooperative when it came time to apply or reapply it.

We spent an entire day at Glacier National Park as well. We skipped our normal hike at Logan's Pass since it was too crowded and super windy and cool all the way up there. We found another great hike near Many Glacier instead and walked a good 3 miles to a beautiful waterfall area and back. My loose preggo hips were not thanking me afterward, but it was a nice easy hike and the kids did great. Well, Pumpkin got carried in the backpack most of the way, and Mister whined and I had to pull him about 3/4 of the way there, but on the way back he was a champ. :)

Our visit wasn't without a little drama, however. On Monday Scott had a tubing accident while he was getting crazy with his cousins who were visiting. You know how guys get when they are all egging each other on and trying to push the limits. Well, this time it cost us a trip to the ER because the tube flipped and one of Scott's cousins completely t-boned him on top of the head (think like taking a hammer to a nail) and his head went numb and he couldn't move his neck. It was really scary, but after a thorough exam and CT scan, they determined that he was very lucky and there was nothing wrong with him. He's been in a neck brace and stiff and sore since then, but he didn't need anything more than Advil to take care of it. I think this accident made him realize (yet again) how accident-prone he is and how he needs to learn to take it easier. Especially with a family to provide for.

All in all we had a wonderful trip and are looking forward to the next time we can go back. The boys have already been asking to go back to the cabin (despite the 10 hour drive) and Mister especially is missing his cousins. He really bonded with his newest baby cousin (3 months old) and was always wanting to hold him and give him kisses and cuddles. He cried hardest about leaving the baby and keeps asking if Auntie Liz will let him come live with us since he misses him so much. He doesn't understand why she won't let him. :) But that has me really excited about how wonderful he'll be with our new little one when he arrives in December. He is always talking about how he wants to be my special helper and help feed the baby, change him and love him. And how he wants to protect him so he stays safe and nothing bad happens to him. He's going to LOVE being a big brother again.
