Today was Mister's first day of Kindergarten. It's a day that he has been looking forward to for months and months. It's a day that I've been looking forward to with a mix of excitement and apprehension. How would the bus ride go? Would he get on and off ok? Will he make friends easily? Will other kids be nice to him? Will he behave in class? So many parental fears were running through my mind, but I've been told by all my other friends who've been through this that it's normal and that he will be just fine. And he was. His teacher made sure he got on the right bus and he got off at the right stop where we were waiting for him. He loved his teacher. It was a great day for him. :)
Mister has been talking about how he'll be such a big boy and how he'll get to ride the bus. I was excited to learn that his teacher is a favorite among my other friends who've had older children go to the same school. I feel like he'll be in good hands this year.
We drove Mister to school today. Normally he will take the bus to and from school, but today we thought it was important to go with him to get him situated. I'm glad we didn't miss a minute of it. He was so cute standing there in line waiting to go into his class. He has class with one other boy he went to preschool with, so it's nice that he has at least one familiar face there. A lot of his other friends go to the same school, but they are in other classes, so all that playtime with them will have to wait until recess.
Here he is, all excited to walk into class for the first time.
With all this excitement going on today, Pumpkin was feeling a little left out. He kept saying all morning and even after we got to school "Pumpkin go to school too!" "Pumpkin ride the bus too!" He was devastated when Mister walked into class and left him behind. He couldn't believe he didn't get to go with his big brother. It was so sad to see, but we took him out for pizza afterward and that cheered him up pretty quickly.
Absolutely can't believe that I have a kindergartener. This feels so surreal......

Oh my goodness. I just got excited for when Gwenevere goes to school. I'm so glad it's been a positive experience for you. I'm glad to hear you took Mister to school for his first day. I want to do that for my kids but I wasn't sure if that was acceptable now days.
Hurray for Mister. Kindergarten will be GREAT
Madison is a 2st grader this year and loves it. Zachary (4) however is quite bored with out her, and about 1/2 way through the day he ask, "is it time ti get sister yet?" Does your little guy have AM or PM?
It's hard for me to believe that he is old enough to be in kindergarten!! He will absolutely love it!
