April in a Nutshell

We've had an amazing April so far! We went out of town for the first time since well before Baby Bear was born. First we went to visit Scott's family for a weekend, then the next weekend we went to a resort over in Central Oregon for a long weekend. The following weekend my sister came into town for her baby shower (YAY!) and Mister and I had a mini-modeling session. So here we go, April in a nutshell:

First, we went to visit Scott's family. They live about 2 1/2 hours away from us, but we still get to see them fairly often as Milton and Janice (his parents) come to visit us usually once a month to go to the temple and see the family. We have a tradition of going to visit them when our church has General Conference (2 days of inspirational talks that give instruction, advice and uplifting messages), which happens twice a year. Last time we didn't get to go because it was the weekend of Scott's first days of opening his State Farm agency, so we were thrilled to take up the tradition again. The boys always love visiting Nana and Papa because they get to play with their cousins who live nearby and "swim" in their hot tub.

The following weekend Scott was able to take Friday off and we went to a resort over in Central Oregon for a long weekend. It was a much needed break after the stress of the past little while. We relaxed in the chalet (which had it's own private hot tub), played at the park, went for walks and went swimming. We had a wonderful time! Oh, and a big event happened while we were there: Mister lost his first tooth!

My sister is having her first baby and we are all so excited for her! She was in town this past weekend to celebrate the occasion. We had a baby shower at my mom's house, and if you've ever been to anything up there, you know it was amazing, as usual. She even had the lady who did Kristen's wedding cake do the cake for the shower. The exact same, scrumptious cake. Seriously, the best I've ever had. :) I think my mom may have missed her calling in life. She should've been a party planner/organizer. She's the most amazing and gracious hostess and has such amazing taste in food and decorations. She's got an eye for things that I (sadly) definitely didn't inherit. :) We had a wonderful time shopping, eating and just hanging out, getting Kristen more prepared for her sweet baby's arrival. We don't know what she's having, so we're all on pins and needles waiting to find out on the big day.

Mister and I had a little mini-photo session on Sunday after church. I've been trying to capture the true colors of my kids' eyes lately. They all have gorgeous eyes but they don't always show up in their true colors in the photos I take. So lately that has been my focus. Trying to find the right lighting that will do their beautiful eyes justice. Mister is getting super good at taking pictures. We were cracking up and joking around with each other between all these takes but he was able to get serious and give me the looks I wanted for the camera. He's a pro with some serious modeling chops! And Baby Bear can't escape me yet, so I got some good ones of his eyes too. Capturing Pumpkin's eye color has proved to be a task that is destined to go unfulfilled for the foreseeable future. At 3, he's not willing to be bribed yet and he's completely uninterested in my attempts to preserve his 3 year old self for posterity's sake. Oh well, it's a work in progress. We'll get there someday.

So that's pretty much it in a nutshell. We've had an amazing month so far, I'm excited to see what the rest of the month brings us.

It has been a great month so far. And the weather has been beautiful the last several days. Can't wait to see the boy's reaction to their Easter baskets! Loved having Kristen here for her luncheon. Glad you all enjoyed the food and decorations. Also loved seeing more of the boys. Love the pictures you posted. My grandsons are so handsome! May brings Mother's Day, David's BD, Scott's graduation for his Masters, Dad's BD, a weekend getaway...and then Memorial Day weekend! I am looking forward to it all!
