A Wet Easter

We had a very wet Easter this year. I was hoping that since it was going to be at the end of April, later than any Easter I can remember, we'd get to enjoy some beautiful Northwest weather for the occasion. Well, we didn't. We got absolutely drenched. So no outdoor egg hunts, no scenic family photos in the requisite color-coordinated outfits. We had to settle for indoor shots that, while nice, don't feel as Easter-y as the would if we were, say, under a beautiful flowering pear tree or on a sparkling green lawn. Oh well. Despite the weather we had a great time spending Easter going to church in the morning (which was interesting given the amount of sugar that all the kids were hopped up on) and spending the evening up at my parents' house. This year we broke from tradition and instead of getting a ham (which is my least favorite holiday food anyway) and had comfort food on the menu instead. Nothing like a wonderful (and creatively spiced-up) meatloaf, mashed potatoes and green beans to make you feel good on a cold and wet day. Weather notwithstanding, it was a lovely day. :)

As anyone with children knows, taking family photos is a comedy of errors. Especially when you're using a tripod and timer on your camera and don't have anyone trying to get the kids' attention. This little mini-shoot involved about 30 outtakes and me frantically racing from behind the camera (with Pumpkin in my arms since he was feeling clingy) to sit and look unruffled in the picture. These two pictures were the only two that were usable from the many, many, many we took. Someone was always looking off in another direction, twisted around to talk to Scott or me, putting trains over their eyes, or in Mister's case, rolling his eyes at the absurd number of times his picture-crazy mother made him smile for the stinkin' camera. :) That's ok, it was worth it. :)

It was a beautiful and special Easter having you over. I would not have been the same without you here! I am counting on next year being able to do the Easter Egg hunt outdoors! LOVE the family photos! Great job!

So cute. I'm with you on ham not being my favorite holiday food, but all my family love it, so maybe I should jump on board...

So glad we got to spend last night with you guys. We sure do love and miss you!

I think the pictures turned out wonderfully! I love how everyone is coordinating!

Sorry the weather didn't cooperate, but you know, it just gave you more time inside to eat all of that yummy food!
