Mini-Vacation

We just got back from a mini-vacation to Birch Bay, WA and I must say, we had a wonderful time! My parents booked a 3 bedroom condo for the week so we went and stayed with them for a few days. One nice thing about Scott not working is that we don't have to worry about how many vacation days he has to use to go away like that (just trying to stay positive here....). We really lucked out with the weather while we were there. As you can see from the pictures, it was gorgeous! Birch Bay is right near the Canadian border and only an hour away from Vancouver, BC. Unfortunately, we didn't have time to do all that we wanted to do, and some of the things were seasonal, so we'll definitely have to make a return trip in the summer sometime. It was just a FABULOUS area and I can't wait to go back!
One day we went to a "beach", which was really all rocks, but it was still beautiful and enjoyable. Mister had a great time throwing all the rocks into the water and each time he tried to get a bigger splash than the last one. Scott tried teaching him to skip rocks, but I think he's still a ways off from being able to do that yet. :)
Here's a funny family picture. Mister was too excited about the other things to do and had NO intentions of cooperating for a nice family shot. I thought it was still really funny, so I put it up anyway. :) I especially love the look on Pumpkin's face, like "what's your problem?". Haha!

One day we went to a local dairy farm called Appel Farms. It was so cool to get a tour of the farm and see their farming and cheese-making operation. Then we got to go into the cheese shop and try samples of their cheeses. I hope there's lots of cheese in heaven so I can eat all I want and never get fat from it! Haha! The funniest thing Mister said there was when we were trying to get him interested in the cows and Grandma was walking him over to the cow pens:
Grandma: Look Mister, see the cows?
Mister: (To the closest cow) How's it going? I've got lollipop for you! Come here!
My mom and I just bust up laughing at that one. He kept trying to share his lollipop with the cow. Fortunately the cow didn't seem interested, though not for lack of effort on Mister's part. :)
One of the most special things about this trip was seeing Mister get to spend so much quality time with his grandma. He is like glue on her! I couldn't say or do anything for him if Grandma was around. He wanted her to help him with it all. We came home today and my parents are still there, and she's already called twice (going through withdrawals from having the boys around). :) Here are a few special moments between them that I managed to capture on my camera.

Sounds like a fun trip! And the pictures are great- I love the one of Scott swinging Mister over the water.

I miss the Oregon coast so much. I am trying to convince Jason to go there next year so we will see! Looks like you had a great time in Washington.
