Pumpkin Eater

I watched my friend Kellie's little girl today while Kellie had to work, so she was so sweet and brought all the ingredients to make us all enchiladas for dinner. Yummy! Well, Pumpkin had never tasted enchiladas or the asparagus we'd prepared (thanks Mom it turned out GREAT), but how do you think he reacted? We decided to split an enchilada for the boys, not knowing if they'd like them. Guess who cleaned his plate? It wasn't Mister, that's for sure. Pumpkin not only finished his half of the large enchilada (he also had some of mine and some of Scott's), but he ate two whole spears of asparagus, and an entire bear claw for dessert. I decided to make him a bottle of warm milk (yay for regular milk now) just in case he was thirsty and wanted something to wash down all that food. I didn't expect him to drink much, just a little to top him off. But he surprised me yet again. He drank an entire 8 oz bottle, which was really more like 9-10 oz because I filled it up way past the 8 oz line! I was stunned! I mean, I know he's a good eater, but man, he just floored us all tonight! I just couldn't resist sharing this side shot of what his tummy looked like after all that food and drink. It's enormous! But he went to bed sleepy and content with his tummy full of nutritious food, so we were happy too. I just got a little nervous though, thinking about what his appetite will be like when he gets to be a teenager. I don't know how we'll keep up with him. Oh - and Mister barely touched his half of the enchilada, refused the asparagus, and only took two sips of his milk..... and he's 4! We joke that we have a bird and a horse in those two. :)

I love that picture. It is funny that you have a big and small eater in the house. Maybe pumpkin is going to turn out really tall like Julian my brother because he use to eat like that.

1. His belly looks a lot like mine!

2. And, I have to wonder if that's what Dave was like as a baby.

Wow...that is a lot of food for Pumpkin! And I know how he enjoys all foods so he must have been in food heaven. I think Auntie Lauren and Uncle Kiel have a new foodie in the family to compete with!
