Do you know who this picture is of? No, it's not Scott although this could easily be his lighter-haired twin brother...... Nope, it's his maternal grandfather. Scott's mom showed us this picture shortly after we were married and both of us did a double take thinking, "when did Scott take that picture and why is his hair lighter?" Then she told us it was a picture of her father when he was young. The resemblance between Scott and his grandfather is uncanny! Every time I see this picture it gives me the chills. We just got this scanned copy of the original and I had to post it so everyone else could marvel at the similarities too. Scary how much they look alike!
It seems like all his genes just hung around in Janice for a while until they all decided to come out at the same time in their 5th child, Scott. I am endlessly fascinated by the gene pool and how many combinations can come out of the same people. Sometimes children look like a mix of each parent. Sometimes they favor one over the other. In this case it seems like Grandpa's genes skipped a generation and all got passed to Scott! Crazy.

The one on the left is Kristi's and the one on the right is Tyson's. Too bad Jenilyn is in Florida, it would have been neat to have all the kiddos there. Plus no one has meet little Ashley yet!

At my grandpa's funeral last weekend, we were able to see many of our extended family members. It was soooooo weird to see that my younger brother (who doesn't really look much like the rest of us) looked SO much alike my Mom's cousin. Read that again...My MOM'S COUSIN. As in her Mom's sister's child. That is 2 generations off not to mention a cousin of my mom, not even a cousin to us.
Weird how genes work. you wonder why people have traits that their parents don't have and you notice it a few generations back.
