Mister and I were enjoying a nice conversation together the other day. He has the memory of an elephant, I swear. He remembers everything! So we were talking, then out of the blue he says:
Mister: Mommy, you can't lose me. That was scary. You have to be careful with me. Don't lose me again.
Last summer we had two scary episodes where he escaped in the mall. Once I found him around a corner almost immediately. The second was much scarier, involving mall security shutting down all the exits and having me describe what he was wearing. We were lucky to find him a few stores down holding some strange man's hand. Fortunately as I was running up to him I could hear the man asking him where his mommy was, so I knew he was a nice stranger. We were lucky. But apparently that memory stuck out in Mister's mind and he felt the need to remind me of how scary it was for him to be lost. So I promised I wouldn't lose him and that I would be careful with him. That little plea brought back that heart-stopping fear that I felt, especially on the second occasion. I hope neither of us feels that way ever again.

AMEN!
I am a total believer of the toddler-leash. I know people make fun of it and say that it's bad parenting, whatever... but I can honestly say I can thank my little Rainbow Brite leash I wore when I was 3-4 as the reason I am here today. Now they make them that look like cute lttle backpacks, not the typical harness-type. Our children will have the full collection!!!
Hi! I grew up in Cottage Grove with Scott. I found your blog on a link from someone else's. Our families were good friends. Your kids are adorable! I remember thinking of Scott as this little crazy skinny kid. It's funny how we all grow up and the age difference seems to disappear. You can check out my blog if you want.

It's good to see you!
That is the most scary feeling ever. Every since the Adam Walsh Case I was terrified with my Children. I remember losing Adam in Walmart one time & I felt sick. I was so happy when I found him. We just always have to keep them in sight because it happens so fast! Give Mister & Pumpkin a Big Squeeze!!!
