Early Mother's Day Present

Today when I went to pick up Mister from preschool I was greeted with an enthusiastic "Mommy, look what I made for you! I made you a present!" It was so cute to see how excited he was to give me the present he'd made me and he kept asking me to open it all the way home. But since this is the first Mother's Day present he's ever made me, I refused to open it until I could get home and properly document it with my camera. I was just brimming with happiness - Mister was always too young before to do anything for Mother's Day. So this is my first real Mother's Day present (other than from Scott or my mom) and even if it was just a scribbled picture I would've melted because it was from Mister's heart. But when I opened it I almost cried! It was a painted handprint on a heart that said "Mother's Day 2009 - This is the hand you used to hold when I was only 4 years old." I admit I got a little misty-eyed and gave Mister the biggest hug and told him how grateful I was for his present. He was so proud of it. He told me all about the paint on his hands and that he picked out the jewel in the middle. :) Then he helped me find a magnet so we could proudly display it on our fridge. This is one project of his that I'll never throw away. This one is one for the scrapbook!
