We were lucky enough to be able to book a condo at the coast for the long weekend this year. The weatherman said it was supposed to be between 69-75 degrees and sunny (not even partly sunny - SUNNY) but I don't think it even made it out of the 50s (and the sun only came out briefly) until we were leaving this morning. Of course. That's how it always works, right? Fortunately, I was apparently feeling pessimistic when I was packing (despite the glowing forcast) and we came well prepared with warm clothes in addition to the summer clothes. Except Scott - he forgot a jacket and was pretty cold most of the time. He was a real trooper though. We had such a wonderful family weekend. Here are some pictures of our stay. I'm going to put more up on Facebook, so if you want to see them all, go there soon.Mister and Daddy sharing an ice cream cone. Mister got to pick the flavor, and to Daddy's chagrin, he picked "cotton candy". Scott was still sweet about it though. :)
It looks like he's giving me a sweet snuggle, but he's really just blinking in this picture. He was really excited about all the paddle boats in the river behind me. :)
The water was actually warm (by Pacific Ocean standards, it wasn't Mexico by any means) and we had fun wading in up to our shins. After that it got much colder.... Brrrr.
My 3 favorite guys:

Pumpkin did NOT enjoy wading in the ocean. Anything less than bath-temperature and he's not interested. Not even in a heated (85-degree) swimming pool!

Ah yes, now for the proof that I was actually there on this trip! I'm always behind the camera so I'm glad we got at least one shot of me with the boys. They sure had a blast in the sand. And judging by the contents of Pumpkin's diapers, he sure had fun eating it too! Haha!

I think Mister is part fish. He just LOVES the water. He will jump into the big pool (into an adult's waiting arms, of course) and go under every time. He thinks it's the best thing ever. He loved the fountains in the big pool but he realized after a while that they had a shallow pool that had a bunch of fountains and a gradual ramp to enter it. When he realized he could play with other fountains without having to rely on us to help him reach them, he spent all his time running into the water down the ramp and playing with the fountains in the kiddie pool. He made friends with a sweet little girl and kept making sure to tell me that she was his friend. It was cute.

We saw a yellow Ferrari a couple of times when we were there and Mister kept calling it the "Yellow McQueen". We actually ended up meeting the guy who owns it and he let us take Mister over so he could see it and take a picture with it. He thought that was really special.

On our way home we stopped at an old logging museum/restaurant that not only had the most AMAZING food (we'd already read rave reviews) but their museum grounds made the 35 minute wait seem too short! They had tractors, trains, water wheels, a bridge, a creek, and an old-fashioned fire truck. Mister thought he'd gone to heaven! Between all that entertainment and the delicious food, we've decided that it is our new family tradition to stop there every time we go to the coast from now on. Yeah, it was that good. :)

He thought this one looked like Mater from "Cars".
