Today I took Pumpkin in for his 18 month well-baby visit. Here are his stats:
Height: 34" (90th percentile)
Weight: 23 lbs 13 oz (25th percentile)
Head: 90th percentile (I forgot the exact number)
So basically I have a child who is tall and lanky, with a big head. :) Pumpkin only gained about 1/2 a pound (astonishing considering the amount of food he eats - literally, twice as much as Mister, sometimes as much as me!) since he was checked at 12 months, but he has grown an astounding 3 1/2 inches in those same 6 months! He is really sprouting! And as always, the head is in the upper-ranks size-wise. Both boys have always had big heads (they get that from Scott, he had quite the melon when he was little but fortunately he grew into it nicely).
Then came the bad part: Shots. We started with Mister (we decided to space out his shots instead of getting him all 5 at his 4 year appointment) and it took two of us to restrain him for the nurse to give him one shot. He screamed bloody murder. The minute we let him go he hopped down off the table and started scolding the nurse "You can't hurt me! It's not nice to hurt me! You have to say sorry to me!" It was heartbreaking and hilarious at the same time. Next up was Pumpkin. He needed two shots today (instead of the 4 they wanted to give him). The first one was fine, he just screwed up his face, but didn't cry. The second one made him cry though. But not nearly as much or as dramatically as Mister's performance, so that was nice. But the whole time Mister was sitting in the corner shouting at the nurse "You can't hurt my baby! That's my baby! You can't hurt him!" and crying too. He's such an empathetic little guy. It was really hard for him to watch Pumpkin get shots too. Boy was he angry with that nurse afterward. He definitely gave her a piece of his mind.
Fortunately the tears and drama only lasted a few minutes, when promises of lollipops silenced those wails pretty quickly. They were troopers though, all things considered. Lollipops in hand and smiles all around, we were off to my friend Lisa's house for a fun play date with her 3 boys. Very nice diversion for Mister from the traumatic memory of the doctor's office visit. :)

Oh my goodness! Your dad and I are laughing.....how cute! I can not believe how he was letting the Nurse have it. We just can not wait to see those Precious Boys!!!
That' my Mister for you! I hope the nurse told him 'sorry'. I am sure if he sees her again, he will remember. How sweet that he wanted to protect Pumpkin. I love those boys!
